Marston Duane Yearwood

Marston Duane Yearwood was born February 1, 1939, south of Hydro, Oklahoma, to Marion B. and Cleo (Hill) Yearwood. Duane grew up on the Ghost Mound Farm south of Hydro, Oklahoma, graduating from Hydro High School. During his senior year, he served in the FFA, serving in several positions. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma State University where he participated in the ROTC programs. Duane returned to the farm in the Eakly community and has continued farming and ranching.

He enjoyed hunting, loved Big Game hunting and was on the Boone & Crockett Record Holder, Records of North America in 1973. He was published in the Colorado Outdoor Magazine with his picture, his buck and an article. Duane would contribute several articles to hunting magazines and would be published.

Duane and Nina met at the Eakly Co-Op in 1988 and dated and were engaged for 18 years before they were married in 2006 in Paradise Island, Bahamas. They enjoyed their cattle herd where most of their time was spent. They enjoyed traveling, hunting and going to the grandkids ballgames. He served on the Eakly Cemetery Board for many years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Eakly. He participated in the Eakly Rodeo, was a member of IPRA Association competing in team roping, was a member of the Gun Club where he enjoyed shooting. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports and other activities.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Rose Yearwood of their home in Eakly; children: Vickie Yearwood of Oklahoma City, OK; Lisa Yearwood of Moore, OK; Tonya Noon and husband, Bobby, of Edmond, OK; Heather House and husband, Tommy, of Lookeba, OK; Amy Greteman and husband, Eric, of Hinton, OK; and Johnna Lee of Kansas City, MO; as well as by grandchildren: Brittne Sharry of Oklahoma City, OK, Tanner Sharry of Mt. View, OK, Trevor Sharry of Newcastle, OK, Baylee House of Weatherford, OK, Boyce Brown stationed in Japan, Sydney Lee of Edmond, OK, Emilee House of Lookeba, OK and Katelyn Brown of Oklahoma City, OK; great grandchildren; Ethan Barron-Sharry of Stillwater, OK, Chloe Barnes-Sharry of Newcastle, OK, Faith Sharry of Weatherford, OK, and Dawson Sharry of Clinton, OK; his siblings, Carol Dona Anderson and husband, Bill ,of Oklahoma City, OK, Evelyn Blevins and husband, Dick, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Deon Yearwood and wife, Barbara, of Hydro, OK; sister-in-law, Carolyn Yearwood of Eakly, OK, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Cleo Yearwood; his stepmother, Pauline Yearwood, and siblings: Darrol and Dale Yearwood.

The family has asked that donations be made in Duaneā€™s memory to the Eakly Fire Department.

Services were scheduled for Wednesday, August 24. 2022, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Eakly, OK. Officiating was Rev. Ray Weathers. Burial was in the Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa, OK, services under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, Oklahoma.
